It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beautiful mom, Elizabeth Ann Mocek, on August 6, 2023. After a struggle with dementia, our mom can finally rest and will be forever in our hearts. Our mother was born in Marlin, Texas to Louis and Verna Wilganoski. She was the fourth of seven siblings. It was there where she met and married our father, Herman Mocek, on Thanksgiving weekend in 1953. They moved to Fort Worth to further their education. Mother received her certification from Isbells University of Beauty Culture in Cosmetology in Fort Worth. Dad pursued electronics. Mom then went to work at Mary’s Beauty Salon owned by Mary Meadows. Mary became a good friend to our family along with Anthie Brewer and shared many good times together and years of friendship. Mom then worked with our Dad in their first business called H & H TV. This later led to becoming owners of seven Curtis Mathes dealerships located throughout the Metroplex. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, gardening, sewing and quilting.
Mother was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church after moving to Arlington, Texas in 1979. She enjoyed many years in the Women’s Guild. She also loved attending mass at the Carmelite Nun Monastery. St. Jude’s Hospital was one of her favorite charities she enjoyed supporting for many years.
Most of all mom loved her family. She was a loving mother to son, Don Mocek and wife Cyndi Mocek, daughter, Judy Mocek-Gray and husband Roger Gray. Proud and loving grandmother to Jordan Gray-Skouby and husband Hans, Kaitlan Gray, Meagan Mocek, Lauren Mocek Kosydar husband Nathan and Great - Grand daughter Harper Ann Kosydar. Mom was a devoted caregiver to our father throughout his illness.
She will be laid to rest next to her husband (Herman Mocek) of 63 years. Mom was the last living sibling of her six brothers and sister. She is survived by John & Elizbeth Mocek (brother in-law/sister-in-law), Pam Wilganoski, Diane Wilganoski & Corine Wilganoski (sisters-in-laws) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to her amazing caregivers at the private care home of Lighthouse of Care. Along with the friends and caregivers from C.A.R.E. Senior Care & Texas Best Hospice for their dedication to providing our mom with wonderful & loving care. Our family encourages donations to the Alzheimer’s Association to find a cure for this ruthless disease and/or St. Jude’s Hospital who is dedicated to providing excellent care and cures to children.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend and sister. You will be missed dearly. Rest now sweet mother in arms of our savior until we meet again.
