

Bura Faye “Chickie” Goodson Silva, 87, of Fort Worth, died Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Memorial Hermann Hospital, The Woodlands, Texas. She was born April 3, 1932, in Panola County, Texas to Venus (Creech) Goodson and Marvin Goodson, and spent her youth in east Texas.
Following her marriage to Bertram Silva on April 19, 1953, Faye enjoyed life as an Air Force wife at more than a dozen Strategic Air Command bases across the U.S., including Offutt AFB in Bellevue, Nebraska, Bunker Hill AFB in Peru, Indiana and Carswell AFB in Fort Worth, Texas. A homemaker by trade, she provided a warm home for her children and was passionate about art (especially oil painting and ceramics) and rescuing animals. Faye was a cheerful volunteer on base, serving as an art teacher, nurse, member of the officers’ wives club, and as a NAUS officer.
Faye is best remembered for her devotion to her family and friends, her love of animals, and her crackerjack sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Goodson and Venus Goodson Seale; her husband, Bertram Silva; her daughter, Deborah Silva; her step-father, Milton Seale; and her sisters, Joyce Sheffield and Frances Seale.
Survivors include her son, Darrel (and wife Bobbye) Silva of Magnolia, Texas; grandchildren, Hannah and Lee Silva; nephews, Terry Coleman and Tommy Sheffield; a lifetime of friends and her devoted Cairn terrier, Jesse.
A graveside service will be held Friday, October 4, 2019 at 3:00pm at Laurel Land Memorial Park, Fort Worth, Texas.
