Francis “Buck” Elwen Griffin was born August 21, 1921, in Horatio, Arkansas. At age 16, he moved to eastern New Mexico, traveling by train hopping and hitchhiking. Shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the Navy where he fought in the Pacific Theater for the duration of WWll. After returning home from the war in 1945, he attended a community dance where he met and subsequently married, Melba Archer. They moved to North Richland Hills in 1963 where they established and operated a successful business in real estate.
He is survived by his wife of over 72 years Melba Archer Griffin, their three children: Candyce Griffin Drum, wife of David Drum; Mark Griffin; and Brad Griffin, husband of Jennifer Griffin; and their nine grandchildren: Amy Greer Anderson, Todd Greer, Scott Griffin, Christopher Griffin, Brian Griffin, Shea Griffin, Chase Griffin, Landry Griffin, and Nataly Griffin. They also have 5 great-grandchildren: Nikki Griffin, Trevor Griffin, Dalton Griffin, Charlotte Anderson, and Lily Anderson. Papa will be greatly missed and remembered forever as a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
