Mr. Hood was born on July 19, 1931 in Houston where he later graduated from Charles H. Milby High School. Following his graduation he served his country honorably in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict era. Mr. Hood accomplished many things during his life here on earth, not the least of which was obtaining the rank of Captain in the Fort Worth Fire Department. While a firefighter Mr. Hood earned a Bachelor's in Fire Science, Bachelors in Education, and a Masters in Public Administration at TCU. Following a 36 year career with the FD he taught Fire Technology at Tarrant County College, in fact, there are many firefighters on the Fort Worth Fire Dept. today who were trained, in part, by Mr. Hood at either TCC or the Fort Worth Fire Dept. Training Center. He was always a hard worker but in his leisure he enjoyed wood working, traveling and, like his mother, was a talented oil painter. Of greater importance than these positions to him was his position as a husband, father and grandpa. In 1953 he married Minnie Joy Bostick. They were married for 63 years. Mr. Hood was a fine Christian and, at one time or another, was a member of Morningside Baptist Church, Rolling Hills Baptist Church, Westridge Baptist Church and Southcliff Baptist Church.
He has joined in Heaven his granddaughters, Tara Marie Hood and Laura Diane LeMaster; great grandson, Jacob Aaron Gonzales.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie Joy Hood; daughter, Karen Lynne Hurren and husband William; son, Danny Ray Hood and wife Cynthia; grandchildren, Lana Kay Gonzales and husband Robert, Shawn Daniel Hood and wife Jenny, David Ryan Hood, Sarah Lynn Kabetzke, Rachael Denise Parker and husband Spencer; great grandchildren, Katherine Grace Gonzales, Jaclyn Elizabeth Gonzales, Genevieve Marie Gonzales, Ellie Kay Hood, Emma Lynn Kabetzke, Meredith Joy Gonzales, Peyton Clay Walker, Carter Ryan Parker, Michael Gerald Gonzales, Samuel James Gonzales; extended family, dear colleagues, church family and friends.
