Gregory Thomas Burns

Gregory lived a life full of purpose, passion, and faith. After earning his bachelor’s degree, Gregory dedicated more than 30 years to teaching speech and theatre, inspiring countless students and even had the honor of teaching a few well-known individuals during his career. Following his long teaching career, he continued to share his expertise as a consultant and workshop leader. He was a writer and author, best known for his Forensics Anthologies, a curated collection of performance pieces for competitions, featuring humorous, dramatic, poetry, and duo interpretations from both original and competitive scripts.

A cancer survivor, Gregory’s faith grew stronger after his recovery. He became an active member of Cross Creek Church in Colleyville, where he found deep joy in ministering to others. His compassion extended beyond the church walls, he spent time teaching Bible classes and preparing meals for the homeless, always eager to help and uplift those in need. Many have shared stories of how Gregory touched and changed their lives in meaningful ways.

Known for his wit, humor, and love of storytelling, Gregory brought laughter and warmth wherever he went. He enjoyed visiting craft fairs and estate sales, finding joy in the little things. Gregory’s life was one of faith, kindness, and creativity. His impact on others will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Gregory was preceded in death by his father, Tommy Burns, and his brother, Paul Rigo.

He is survived by his loving mother, Sherry Burns; his siblings, Cindy Price (husband Curtiss), Lori Burns, Christopher Bennett, and Barrett Bennett; sister-in-law Diana Rigo; as well as many nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory forever.

A visitation for Gregory will be held Thursday, October 23, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Shannon Rufe Snow Drive Funeral C, 6001 Rufe Snow Drive, Fort Worth, TX 76148. A graveside service will occur Friday, October 24, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Dido Cemetery, 12341 Morris Dido Newark Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76179.
