After moving to Burleson, TX in 1948 he worked the fields, horses, sheep, pigs and cattle with his older brothers and tried hard to keep up with them. There was only six years difference between the five brothers. After moving to the city of Fort Worth in 1949, he attended Fort Worth schools until the eighth grade, before moving to Walnut Springs, TX where he attended the livestock and worked in the fields until beginning the tenth grade in Fort Worth. He graduated Tech High School in 1958.
He attended college for a while, and at a very young age he married and had four children (two boys, David and Frank, and two girls, Toma and Kelli). He worked various jobs to provide for his family including Little Dude boat trailers and as a butcher until he and Elmo opened a meat market. After an accident at the butcher's shop with a saw to the wrist, he moved back to Arlington, TX to work at LTV in 1965 as a configuration manager. He excelled at his job, doing special projects for the military and NASA, where he received a special plaque signed by the Colonel.
In 1970, he met his current wife Laurie, who also worked at LTV. They eventually married and had a little girl named Jessica. They both finished their careers at the same company which would at this time be Lockheed Martin.
James and his wife Laurie were married for 54 years, until he preceded her in death.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, David and Frank, along with his wife Chris, and his daughters Toma and her husband Greg, Kelli and her husband Kenneth, and his daughter Jessica and her husband Eddy, and his grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with dear friends he considered family.
