James Emory Poe

Jim was born on July 20, 1945, Lakeland, Florida to Alfred “Al” and Dorothy (Taylor) Poe. Following in his father’s footsteps, Jim served in the United States Navy from 1963-1965. Upon discharge, he returned to his home state and attended the University of South Florida, he joined the United States Junior Chamber (Jaycees). He was the President of the Florida Jaycees, National Chaplain for the US Jaycees, and President of the Minnesota JC International (JCI) Senate.

He married Dauphinais Robinson on August 12, 1989. He retired as the Managing Director from Citi Group in 2002 after 15 years. In 2004, he and his wife opened their own financial services firm in Fort Worth; DFW Retirement Planners. Jim was most proud of earning his Masters of Science Degree in Financial Services (MSFS).

In his spare time, Jim enjoyed participating in other charitable organizations such as: Moslah Shriners, Masons and Moslah Shrine Bedouins. He served as Treasurer, volunteered at the annual Shrine Circus, and assisted in raising funds for the Shriners Hospital for Children.

Jim’s hobbies included traveling, reading, spending time with his grandchildren, boating, and attending culinary school. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jim’s name to: Shriners Hospital for Children.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dauphinais Poe; Daughters, Lisa Poe (Matt Fiore), Lara Norman (Dwayne), Daniella Savoie (Jacob), Corrine Fancher (Dallas), Britni Levensailor (Lance) and Monique Levensailor (Stephen); Grandchildren, Colin, Connor, Ceighlynn, James “Coltman”, Abbigayle, Gracie, Allen, Slade, Jax, Jade and Lucas.

Visitation: Sunday, April 7, 2019 3pm to 5pm at Laurel Land Funeral Home

Service: Monday at 10am at Southcliff Baptist Church 4100 SW Loop 820 Fort Worth, TX 76109 officiated by Dr. Carroll Marr.

Interment to follow services at Laurel Land memorial Park located at 7100 Crowley Road Fort Worth, TX 76134.
