

Jan met her husband of over 60 years at a movie theater on 8th Avenue in Fort Worth, Texas. Belmont was working as an usher, Jan would go on dates at the same theater! Both attended Trimble Technical High School and after multiple dates, Belmont insisted Jan marry him or they were through. She accepted and the two eloped and the romance began. Jan raised her family in Fort Worth, Texas and spent her final years in Granbury, Texas.
Jan was actively involved in PTA and loved bowling. She was a member of multiple bowling leagues, including a traveling league. She bowled a 279 one time, almost strike a perfect 300 game.
Later in life, she was a devoted grandma, great grandma and chocolate chip cookie maker. Her humor and generosity are just two traits her family and friends admired. She made the best biscuits and gravy and that will never be duplicated again by anyone.
Jan is preceded in death by her husband Belmont, her mother Iva Rankin, her father Robert Troy Rankin and her siblings Derstine, Cloyce, Troy and Bobby.
Jan is survived by her daughter Brenda Howlett, daughter Kelli Scott and son Cory Pitt and a multitude of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Harbor Lakes Nursing center of Granbury and Interim Hospice for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at Laurel Land Cemetery in the Garden of Ascension on Saturday, August 31st at 10:00 am. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Belmont Pitt.
