

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Janet Carol Whisenand Harvey, who left us on September 20, 2025 at the age of 87. She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, neighbor and friend. Her presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Born on February 28, 1938 in St. Louis Missouri, Janet was the first of five children born to Joseph and Helen Whisenand. Throughout her life, Janet was known for her volunteerism. As a youth she served on the board of global missions at the First Christian Church of Fort Worth. As an adult, she volunteered for many roles at the First United Methodist Church, both of Burleson and Marlow. She volunteered for the Red Cross teaching water, safety and life-saving for many years. She was a helper for neighbors, who would call her for just about anything. Janet was a Girl Scout leader, Huguley hospital volunteer and a great prayer warrior. She spent 23 years as a Walmart employee where she enjoyed working in the craft and fabric department. Her customers loved her for her expertise and helpfulness.
Janet had many varied interests and talents. In college, she was a swimmer (friends called her part fish), played trombone in the marching band and was a mathematical whiz. Later in life, she spent a lot of time sewing and quilting. She was a talented seamstress. Janet enjoyed going on many mission trips with her church, where she might be doing anything from building wheelchair ramps to cooking meals.
Janet Carol Whisenand Harvey is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Helen Whisenand, her husband James Harvey, sister Marilyn Townsend , two nephews, Jeff Townsend and Dan Whisenand.
Janet is survived by three brothers Jim Whisenand and wife Janice, Jack Whisenand and wife Kala, Charlie Whisenand and wife Chris, brother-in-law L A Townsend, four children, Mark Harvey, Betty Sessums, Carol Sessums and husband Ricky, Linda Singleton and husband Matt, five grandchildren 10 great grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Janet will be held Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Laurel Land Funeral Home of Fort Worth, 7100 CROWLEY RD, FORT WORTH, TX 76134. A catered reception will occur from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, 7100 CROWLEY RD, FORT WORTH, TX 76134. A funeral service will occur Friday, October 3, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, 590 NE Mcalister Rd, Burleson, TX 76028. A committal service will occur Friday, October 3, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM, 7100 CROWLEY RD, FORT WORTH, TX 76134.
Serving as pallbearers are Jacob Sessums, Steven Rose, Tyler Rose, Austin Rose, Hunter Sessums, Jonathan Mann, Ricky Sessums and Matt Singleton.
