

Graveside service: noon Tuesday in Greenwood Memorial Park, Fort Worth. Visitation: 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Chapel.
Jerry was born Nov. 13, 1945, in Ranger to John Leslie and Mary Gladys Southerland. He served in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam and was an electronics mechanic for the Navy from July 1965 to September 1971. He was past master of Fort Worth Masonic Lodge No. 148 and a member of Scottish Rite. A man with a helping spirit and unconditional love for his family, he always tried to be the best person he could be. According to his grandson, Garrett, "When God made Grandpaw, He made him to make other people happy."
Survivors: Wife, Lynn Southerland of Haltom City; son, Paul Southerland and wife, Sandra "Sam," of North Richland Hills; grandchildren, Garrett Paul Southerland and Natalie Ann Southerland; and brothers, Robert Southerland of Dublin and Tommy Southerland of Breckenridge.
