

Joan Carrol Cunningham was born on January 24, 1941. She was the oldest of two girls to Nathaniel and Eulalia Booker in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She passed away peacefully on Saturday, January18, 2020.
During her early years, Joan and her family relocated to Fort Worth, Texas. She later graduated from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School. On June 28, 1958, she married Hendricks D. Cunningham. They were married for fifty-five years and the proud parents to five beautiful children: Erika, Quinnita, Herricks, Edwina, and Tamika.
She began her career as an accounting secretary at Tarrant County Convention Center where she worked until retirement. She had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. She was liked by everyone she met! She enjoyed westerns, talking to friends and family, and gardening.
She was a dedicated member of the Greater Antioch Baptist Church where she served on various committees. She truly loved the Lord and lived her life with deep conviction.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Herricks, and daughter Edwina.
She is survived by her daughters: Erika Smith (Carl) of Pearland, Texas, Quinnita Jackson of Fort Worth, Texas, Tamika Buckley (Marcus) of Weatherford, Texas; grandchildren: Corbin, Colin, Emmanuel, Herrunn, Breashia, Milton, Nakita, Ryan, Regan, Railey, Raven (Brannon), Marcus, and Madison; sister, Betty Russell of Fort Worth, Texas, along with great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
