

The oldest of five siblings, Joe was born in Crowley, Texas on December 30, 1932 to Howard and Thelma Crouch. He attended 13 different schools between first and third grade while his family lived in an outfit car on the railroad. He attended numerous schools in Louisiana and Texas, before graduating from Marshall High School in 1950. He married his beloved Barbara Huber on October 16, 1954 at Calmont Church of Christ in Fort Worth. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He graduated from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana in December, 1957. He began his coaching career in Tyler, Texas in January, 1958. In 1959, he accepted a coaching position at Whitewright High School, and served as head coach from 1960 through 1965. Over the next five decades, he coached in Comanche, Fort Worth, Georgetown, Glen Rose and finished his coaching career at Fort Worth Christian School. He impacted many students in the classroom and in athletics, serving as a teacher, coach and Athletic Director. He was a Lifetime Member of the Texas High School Coaches Association. Joe also officiated at the Texas Relays in Austin and various NCAA track and field events, spanning four decades.
Joe and Barbara shared a deep faith and spent their lifetime together sharing that faith with their family and the communities where they lived.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of almost 65 years, brothers Jerry Crouch and Ralph Crouch; grandson, Michael Daniel; sons-in-law, Roy Tyndall and Dan Daniel. Since his wife’s passing, he has resided at Stone Creek Assisted Living. The family thanks the staff and residents for their friendship over the last two years.
He will be greatly missed by his family, daughter Donna Daniel of Franklin, TN; daughter Mindy Tyndall of Ft. Worth; son David (Lisa) Crouch of Grapevine; daughter Marianne (Jeff) Englant of Ft. Worth; 13 precious grandchildren, Bonnie (Marshall) Rabil, Christine (Matt) Pinson, Beau (Whitney) Daniel, Emily (Clinton) Millican, Becky Daniel, Brad (Alison) Tyndall, Brian (Amanda) Daniel, Peter Crouch, Nathan Crouch, Jared Crouch, Melissa Jo Englant and Mary Kate Englant; 16 great-grandchildren, Jack Pinson, Noah Rabil, Sam Pinson, Addalynn Miglietti, Nina Armstrong, Emma Tyndall, Eliza Millican, Carolina Millican, Baylin Daniel, Owen Pinson, May Rabil, Barrett Millican, Colton Tyndall, Kimber Crouch, Max Pinson, Laikynn Crouch; brother Al (Anita) Crouch, sister Sarah Crouch, and many dear nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers include his most-loved grandsons, great-grandsons and son-in-law. Honorary Pallbearers include former coaches and players.
He will be fondly remembered and missed by his family and friends.
A visitation will be held on July 19, 2021 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Fort Worth, Texas. A funeral service will be held on July 20, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Southside Church of Christ in Fort Worth, Texas with a committal service to follow at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
