

Joe Willie Johnson, affectionately known as "Big Joe" was called home to be with the Lord on July 3, 2025 at the age of 83. He was born on June 19, 1942, in Brownwood, Texas, to Joe Johnson and Mary Loise Fulcher. Joe grew up in Fort Worth, where he attended Ninth Ward Elementary and later graduated from I.M. Terrell High School. He accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized at Ebenezer Baptist Church where he became a dedicated member. He sang with the male chorus and proudly served as President of the "Seniors on the Move," a role he cherished deeply. Joe spent many years serving the community through his work with the Laborers Local Union 859 as a Business Representative. He was known for his strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to those he served. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Minnie Johnson, with whom he shared 44 wonderful years of marriage. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend. Joe is survived by his wife, Minnie, his daughter, Deborah Nixon (Shawn); three grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends who will forever remember his warm smile, deep voice and generous heart. He was preceded in death by his son, Lanoris, his mother, Mary Loise Fulcher and his sister, Mary Andrews.
Joe Willie's life was one of faith, service and love. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
