To everything there is a season and for every season a time. The season for Joe A. Laws Sr. began on August 7, 1943. He arrived as a handsome baby boy, the youngest of four children to the proud parents, the late Aubrey Anthony Laws and the late Frankie Mae Laws.
Joe A. Laws Sr. was born and raised in Fort Worth, TX. He received his formal education from FWISD and graduated from Kirkpatrick High School in 1961. United in Holy Matrimony to his beautiful wife Shirley Jean Brown Laws on July 27, 1964. To this union four children were born, Aubrey Anthony Laws, the late Joe Augustus Laws Jr, Christine Annette Laws Harris, Carla Yvette Laws Bridges. Born before this union eldest son, Joe Anthony Laws. Deacon Joe Laws Sr. was known singing songs at his Father’s church, Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Highcrest and Golden Gate COGIC Male Chorus. God Specializes, Lord Don’t Move That Mountain, Tolling on and Touch the Hem of His Garment. Many souls were touched and lives changed through God’s using Deacon Joe A. Laws Sr. as an anointed instrument for his glory. When called upon to render a solo, he would chuckle and say, “ I only have four songs that I sing”. Regardless, the Lord’s anointing took over each time.
Deacon Joe Laws Sr. attended Golden Gate COGIC for 32 years. He was a member of the Male Chorus, President of the Young Men’s Male Chorus, Y.P.W.W President and Nurse’s Unit. He was a member of Lion of Judah COGIC for 15 years. He was the Chairman of the Deacon Board. He was a member at Greater Love Chapel for 5 years. He worked in the Men’s Ministry and a member of the Trustee Board.
Deacon Joe Laws Sr passion was working in the medical field. Joe attended Tarrant County Junior College and gained knowledge as a Lab Technician. He spent over forty years working at John Peter Smith Hospital, St Joseph and Medical Plaza. While working at the hospitals, Deacon Laws worked as a private duty nurse. His smile is what he was known for.
Every Story Must End…
The humble and obscure beginning transformed into a life of glorious contentment and blessings, comes to close, but not an end. On Friday, April 16, 2021, Deacon Joe A. Laws Sr. life was transformed eternally. He left this world secure in Jesus, and he will live forever and ever. Welcoming him home are both parents, Rev. Aubrey and Frankie Mae Laws and his beloved sisters, Mamie Laws-Durham, Christine Laws-Walker, beloved brother, Aubrey Anthony Laws.

Wife, Shirley Jean Brown Laws; Sons, Aubrey Anthony Laws, Joe A Laws Jr (pre-ceded in death) Daughters, Christine Annette Laws Harris (Marvin) and Carla Yvette Laws Bridges (Myron); Three grandchildren, Lawrence DeWayne Brown Jr. (LD), Ca’Myra LaVette Bridges-Cox and Ca’Rissa MyRae Bridges; Four great grandchildren, Cayden Anthony Gordon, Trinity MyShun Reed, Emerie’ Dior Brown and Serenity Cox; Nieces, nephews and host of relatives and friends.
