John William Anderson, 78, departed this earthly life to his heavenly home on Sunday morning, April 29, 2018. He was born June 16, 1939 in Little Rock, Arkansas to John Lee and Hazel Havens Anderson. John grew up in California, Arizona and Louisiana. He joined the United States Air Force at age seventeen with tours of duty that included Spain, Turkey and Vietnam. John retired after twenty years of military service making Fort Worth his home and completing his college degree at The University of Texas at Arlington in 1977. He retired from Bank One in 2005.
John loved the Lord and served him faithfully as a deacon and adult Sunday school teacher at South Hills Baptist Church for more than twenty years. John was an avid reader. He loved football, especially the Texas Longhorns and playing train dominos with his friends. John considered ice cream to be one of the essential food groups and his coffee cup was always near. Even though he suffered with many health issues in his last years, John was always positive, strong in faith, always thinking of others. As we are reminded in 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith”. John will be missed by many.
