John Rutledge Whittington Sr.

A Memorial and Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 12:00 pm at First Methodist Church in Itasca, Texas followed by a Graveside Service at 2:30 pm at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Fort Worth, TX.

John was born in Fort Worth, Texas to Vernon and Mildred Whittington on December 8, 1942. He married Mary Moore Whittington on March 30, 1996 in Covington, Texas. John graduated from Texas Wesleyan University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. He worked as a procurement contractor for several companies until he retired in 1994.

John enjoyed raising his cows and his chickens on his farm in Covington. He was always willing to lend a helping hand when someone was in need. John loved the Lord and always participated in his home church. John had many friends and loved ones who cared about him and loved him very much. John will truly be missed by all who knew him.

John is preceded in death by his wife Mary Whittington, his mother Mildred “Millie” Whittington, his father Vernon Whittington, and his beloved son John Rutledge Whittington, Jr.

John is survived by a sister, cousins, step-children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.
