Joyce Ann Pirtle

Joyce Ann Hays Pirtle, 83, of Bedford, Texas, peacefully passed away on March 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on December 9, 1942, in Carthage, Texas, to Fred Perry Hays and Eula Maude Darnell.

Joyce earned her Bachelor's degree in Education from North Texas State University. Above all, Joyce was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who cherished every moment spent with her family. She had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel, having accomplished the remarkable feat of visiting all seven continents. Her warm heart and generous nature made her a beloved figure to all who knew her.

Joyce is survived by her three children: Kerry Layne Morgan, Rae Ann Morgan Mauricio, and George William Pirtle III; three grandchildren: Morgan Nicole Schneider, Brooke Ann Fletcher, and Sean Kerry Morgan; and seven great-grandchildren: Kamryn Michelle Schneider, Kennedy Ann Owen, Hunter Lee Schneider, Ryder Thomas Fletcher, Lawson Jakob Schneider, Destry Tritt Schneider, and John Rhett Fletcher; sister, Sally Gibson and many nieces and nephews who will forever treasure the love, wisdom, and joy she brought to their lives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. George William Pirtle Jr.; her parents, Fred Perry Hays and Eula Maude Anderson; sister, Janie Martin; brother, Fred Hays; brothers-in-law, Bill Martin and Howard Gibson; nephew, Michael Joe Reed; and great-nephew, William Lincoln Impastato.

Joyce's legacy of love and family devotion will continue to inspire all those whose lives she touched.
