

Graveside service: 11 a.m. Monday in Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Laurel Land Funeral Home.
Katie was born Nov. 24, 1924, in Chicago, Ill., to Steve and Yaka Brcich. She graduated from high school in Chicago then enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944. While stationed at Great Falls Army Air Base, she met James Redding, a flight instructor from Fort Worth. They married Dec. 24, 1944, and made their home in Fort Worth. After the war Kay attended Brantley Draughon then worked for Herbert Brown at Greenbrier Oil for several years. Kay was a loving wife and mother to three sons, Jimmy, Steve and Roger. She loved to travel and was dedicated to Rangers Baseball.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband, James, in 2010; son, Robert Stephan, in 1999; her brothers, Dr. John Kotarac and George Brcich; her sister, Evelyn Dwyer; and her niece, Dr. Jacquelyn Kotarac.
Survivors: She is survived by her sons, Roger and Jimmy (Janell); and Stephan's wife, Maureen "Cookie" Malone; niece, Martha Dwyer; nephew, Pat Dwyer and his children, Devin and Dr. Morgan Dwyer; and John's children, Marcia, Yvonne, Carolyn and Nancy.
