Kim Vấn was born on June 2, 1956, in Saigon, Vietnam, to Hồng Nguyễn and Kiêng Nguyễn, as the fourth of eleven children. After the Fall of Saigon in 1975, she came to the United States with her whole family to start anew from the Vietnam War. She completed her studies at Tarrant County Community College (TCC) and the University of Texas-Dallas (UTD) to become a valued employee at UT Southwestern Medical Center as a database analyst until her retirement.
Kim Vấn never married or had children, yet she spent most of her life supporting her large extended family in any way she could, from raising her younger siblings, nieces, and nephews to caring for her parents in their old age. Self-taught in many things, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, and other artistic endeavors such as cake decorating, fruit carving, flower arranging, painting, and singing in the St. Rita Church Choir. She was fiercely independent, unafraid to do things her way. She will always be remembered for her dedication to her family and for telling stories about the family throughout her life.
Kim Vấn is preceded in death by her parents (Hồng & Kiêng), her younger sister (Bích Vương), younger brother (Thắng), sister-in-law (Cathy Nhung), and brother-in-law (Sỹ).
She is survived by her loving siblings (Joe Hải, Việt Hùng, Vân Anh, Thu Hương, Việt Sơn, Việt Long, Diana, Neal) twelve nieces and nephews (Catherine, Monique, Tina, Bobby, Michelle, Linh, Lộc, Hạnh, Paul, Long Junior, Davis, Louis, Tiffany) and in-law siblings (Monika, Tuyết, Lệ, Christi, and Bá Hùng).
Her family and many friends will deeply miss her.
