I just came across this online and I'm in total shock. I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of Kim. I remember her when I went to Prestonwood Baptist Church and she was a sweet lady. My prayers and condolences to her husband and family. May she rest in peace.

Kim was always the most kind and sweetest of people.  She would turn the conversation to Jesus or point out some positive aspect of another's character.  Her faith was an inspiration to us all, and her desire to bring all the glory to the Father lived itself out in every area of her life.  She was a great warrior for the Name of Christ, and she will be sorely, sorely missed by us all.   We do rejoice that she is with the Lord, but there is a hole in all of our hearts who have known her.  Our prayers are with you always, and may you draw ever closer to Jesus in this season of grieving.

I always remember Kim and her amazing smile. It was infectious.  She loved life.  Kim tended to be quiet and reserve, but don't be fooled as she was listening intently to engage with you.  I enjoyed seeing her smile and hearing her laugh.  Kim was a "rock" with her faith in Jesus... even to the very end.  I am challenged and inspired to live my life for Jesus in the same way. 

Kelly & I also enjoyed our lunches with Scott and Kim.  They were easy going and we had fun.  You could tell Scott & Kim loved each other and they loved the Lord. 

Thanks for the great memories and see you in heaven.  We love you!

We are so sorry to hear about Kim’s passing.  Although it has been many years since we were together every Sunday at Sunday School, the memories of Kim’s peaceful spirit and Godliness are still fresh.  She was always loving, caring, sincere, strong, authentic and full of the Holy Spirit.

In reading the Journal updates, it is obvious she was still the same woman all these years later.  Strong and courageous; finishing the race.  What an amazing life of faith!

Please accept our deepest condolences.  We will be praying for peace, comfort and strength for your family.

Kim was my older sister by only 17 months and she paved the way through most of life for me.  As the " not as independent" sister, I actually felt comfort in knowing that Kim had been in my schools before me, church programs with me or at least close at hand,  and even college where we were on the same campus and although we rarely saw each other,  I knew she was close if needed.  
Kim was always confident, committed to her beliefs, steadfast to her character but nonjudgemental of others.
She was always a leader in her quiet, intelligent, confident way.  If she saw a need, she found a way to meet it.  As an adult,  I saw her give up a career to stay home and care for her kids, create a babysitting co-op , establish neighborhood mom's groups, homeschool during the years she deemed best for her kids, lead in PTO programs to help facilitate needs in the schools, establish her own business among other things.  She definitely was not one to sit back and complain, but to make a difference!  
She was a quiet, strong and committed to her beliefs. 
Kim was a great sister, daughter, friend, wife, mother and servant of Christ.  I know she was welcomed into heaven with a "well done good and faithful servant--welcome home".
Happy Birthday, Kim.   We celebrate your life well lived !!

We were all blessed to get to share Kim's all too brief time on this earth.  I didn't have any siblings so my cousins... Kim, Pam, Dona & John were everything to me. Kim always had this beautiful inner peace and joy that permeated her life.  She also never aged in the 50 + years I knew her! Brilliant, calm, loving and giving... she was always the essence of God's disciple.  

I remember Kim Painter as a kind, considerate, compassionate and caring person.  Kim was always thoughtful about what she had to say, and appeared to care significantly about others, often at the expense of herself.  Kim was what I would consider academically smart, yet she was humble in most every way.  Through the many years that I have known the Painter family, I always had a great deal of personal respect for Kim, for how she handled herself and for how she exhibited self-control in her actions.  I was very sad to hear of her passing, and yet I know that her legacy will live on in her husband and children, as Kim was a great example of grace and integrity for us all.  My most sincere condolences to the Painter family.

Dear Kayla, Brandon and Scott ~ 
Words can not express the sorrow of our hearts for your mom's passing at this time.  When I think of Kim, these are the words that come to my mind:  thoughtful, genuine, kind, encouraging, quietly joyful, and hard-working... servant-hearted always. 
She loved God with all of her heart, soul, mind and strength... and loved each of you dearly (she was so proud of each of you) and she loved others so well... 
We are so thankful for her life of faith and her legacy.   A true Proverbs 31 woman ~ wife, mom and friend. 
Thank you for allowing us to follow her journey of faith through this tremendous trial ~ She is a gentle, faithful warrior who finished life on this side of heaven well.  And we will see her again.  Thankful for the hope we will ALL be reunited with our Heavenly Father for all of eternity one day.

Painter Family.  We are very sorry for the loss of Kim and send our love, hugs and prayers your way.  You guys are a special family to us and we are fortunate to have gone through the middle years of our lives together with our families.  Kim was a blessing to us and so many and I will miss that great big smile she would always give you when you walked up.  I can't wait to see that smile when I get to heaven and we all reunite together.   I loved that she always made you feel comfortable and her Christlike kindness immediately showed through whenever she spoke.   

Scott, I will be praying for you as you get through the tough times of missing her and I hope we can get together soon to share a meal and pray.   Brandon and Kayla, I know your parents are so proud of you and I have always seen Jesus in your lives as you minister to others which is a reflection of Christ and your parent's love for Him too.

Kim and Pam and I were the three amigos every Summer at our grand parents' house. Meme and Pape would baby-sit us while our parents were working. We would run around the backyard all afternoon, playing cowboys and indians. The sun was warmer then. And colors seemed more vibrant.

The families always seemed to end up at Aunt Jane and Uncle Raymond's house on Sunday evenings for pool parties. The three of us would splash around all night long, till the parents made us get out to go home.

My sister Dona and my cousin Ray were the older cousins. They would be off on their own. But the three of us, always at the kids' table for every holiday, we were thick as thieves. Those were wonderful memories.

We all grew up and moved away. Kim went on to touch so many more lives, so beautifully.

But those summers were a treasured time I lock away in my heart, when we just ran around in the sun. And the air was so pure. I like to think Kim is back there now, waiting for us, in that green beautiful garden.

In reflecting on some of my favorite memories of Kim and our childhood, I remember all the great family gatherings. We loved coming together for holidays, as well as Birthdays.  There were wonderful times during our Christmas Eve celebrations at Meme and Pape's home; where we enjoyed games and great meals, and each person savored the abundant love that was shared among all the family.  Easter was another day of celebration at our Grandparent's home, where we enjoyed large Easter-Egg Hunts, for young and older, alike.  Because we all attended Sagamore Hill Baptist Church, when we were younger, we would frequently all meet at our Grandparent's home after church to share a meal and fellowship.  Especially on Mother's Day and Father's Day.  Attending the same church brought lots of opportunities to spend time together.  Aunt Peggy being a leader in the Children's Program brought us to that area frequently to visit.  And the Grant's allowed the Youth of our church to hold Backyard Bible Schools in their backyard when I was that age.  During Kim's Junior High and High School years, the Grant's moved away from Ft. Worth, so we didn't get to spend as much time together, but after college, when Kim moved back to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, we were able to spend more time together, and raise our children to know each other.  

I will miss seeing her, and parting is always difficult, but as it was when we were apart during those years before, when we meet in heaven we will again be able to enjoy being together.  And this time we will be able to laugh and play like children again, free from earth's worries and cares, just rejoicing in the presence of our Lord.

And He said to him,”Truly I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”         Luke 23:43

Nearly 55 yrs. ago, Kim was born in Big Spring.  Coming to FW at one, she was soon joined by a sister, Pam.  Her Christian training was at Sagamore Hill Baptist Church.  She was an Honor Student throughout her education. 
After graduating from Angelo State University in San Angelo, she worked for Mobil in Dallas. then later formed her own business from home.  Prestonwood Bapt. Church became her  loved church.  There she met and married Scott Painter.  They have two children,  Brandon and Kayla Painter.  Kim left a great legacy and is now joyful and healed. With love and thanksgiving.   Mom


So many wonderful memories:  All 54 Christmases, the Easter egg hunts at Meme and Pappy's house, the birthday parties, crocheting little  things for her to wear and teaching her to swim in the early seventies.  Kim was such a help to me when her Uncle Raymond passsed  away.  She was a Blessing to our family.  She will be missed so much.  RIP  Much Love to Scott, Brandon and Kayla. I was a year behind Kim in school in Big Spring.  We went to the same church and were on student council together.  She was always so nice to everyone.  After I graduated from college, I got a job in Plano.  As soon as I moved to Plano, I randomly chose to visit Prestonwood Baptist church.  I walked in during the Sunday school time to a huge room with lots of people.  I think several classes were meeting together for some reason that day so I was overwhelmed in a room full of people I didn't know.  Within about a minute, Kim was running over to me to welcome me.  It was so good to see a familiar face.  She introduced me to lots of her friends.   I know that God placed her there at that time so I could find my way in a new city and a new church.  I am so thankful to have known her and I am praying for her family.  

I was late to Sunday school so many times because I was across the way chatting with Kim at the youth check in. She was such a nice person and I always wanted to hang out with her but that never happened.  I lost track of her when we changed churches but I have such fond memories.  So sorry for your loss Painters.
