Laura was born December 6, 1925 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was the youngest of five children born to John H. and Laura Amundson Jones. When Laura was 14 months old, the family moved “home” to Beloit, Wisconsin where she was raised until moving to Chicago where she graduated high school and attended the Navy Pier Chicago campus of the University of Illinois. When the Navy Pier campus closed in 1948, Laura moved to Junction City, Kansas to live with her beloved brother Fred and his family. Fred was stationed at Fort Riley and it was there that Laura met Ralph D. Stuck, an airman in Fred’s command. Laura and Ralph were married June 17, 1949 and spent the next 19 years moving around the country with the Air Force. Their three children were each born in a separate stop along the way. Ralph retired from the Air Force in 1968 and, after a brief stop in San Antonio, the family settled in Benbrook in 1969 where Laura lived out her life.
Laura’s life centered around her family and her strong Christian faith. She had been a member of Redeemer Lutheran since moving to Benbrook, where she volunteered for many years and attended regularly until health slowed her down. Laura enjoyed her Bible study groups over the years where she met some of her dearest friends.
Laura loved her family. She was a caring and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She delighted in each additional great-grandchild. Her holiday celebrations were the center of family gatherings, even up to the last couple years when she served mainly as director.
She is survived by son Randy and wife Dana of Weatherford, daughter Lynn and husband Larry of Lockhart, son Rick and wife Linda of Benbrook, four grandchildren, six great grand-children and the extended families of each of them.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
