AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Lawrence William Hinckley

10 août 1943 – 4 novembre 2022
Avis de décès de Lawrence William Hinckley
AUX SOINS DE

Laurel Land Funeral Home & Memorial Park

Larry was born to Marine Private Richard Gordon and Leoma Hinckley in Dallas Texas where he grew up and completed high school. He followed closely in his father’s footsteps when he committed to serve and protect his country in the military. He bravely served in the United States Army from March 1963 through March 1966. After an honorable discharge, he began his commitment to lifelong learning and a self-actuated education. He became an avid reader with an expansive vocabulary and the ability to speak with finesse to groups on a national as well as international level. Larry worked at Crown Cork & Seal for 18 years, then in 1984 was introduced to a career in the power washing industry with RAHSCO, a career he would quickly become passionate about. He joined the industry as an entry level employee, but as he advocated for industry growth, he too grew in his role with the company. By the time he retired, after 29 years of service and dedication, Larry had excelled in leadership, management, and advisory roles. He demonstrated his inherent nature to protect and encourage as he mentored and lead newcomers to the business to be successful and independent in their own companies and roles. Larry shared his knowledge and expertise in the power washing industry at public speaking forums as well as in the articles he wrote, many of which were published by magazines such as Cleaner Times, IWA, and Pavement Magazine.

Larry’s father was killed in action during WWII when Larry was only a toddler. He developed a fierce and loving bond with his mother Leoma, and his brother Gordon, and often said he looked up to them. Gordon, being the oldest, was trying to teach Larry how to say the word “brother”. Larry was a young toddler and his articulation of the word came out as “Beeb”. The name stuck and became a term of endearment shared between the two brothers, and they called each other Beeb from then on. Later both would become known as Uncle Beeb to their nieces and nephews. Larry met Jody, whom he described as “the love of his life” in 1990, they became fast friends with Gordon and Laray, Larry’s sister-in-law; and the four enjoyed many, of what Larry reported as “some of his happiest times” together traveling and experiencing local adventures.

Larry had many friends and family members and he valued and loved each and every one. It was his nature to put others first and he provided, protected, supported, and cheered on the people he loved.

Larry enjoyed several hobbies. One hobby he loved and was very good at was dancing, in fact, that is how he met Jody. He loved Jody and his smile was unmatched when he would hear her words “Love you loads! “He loved working in his yard and keeping beautiful plants and flower gardens. He loved to watch for birds, especially while looking out the window of his house into his beautiful backyard. Larry made sure all of the different species had the most appropriate food in plentiful supply. He enjoyed reading and sharing books with others. Larry loved to cook and often shared stories of cooking with family. Some of “Mr. Larry’s” favorite cooking stories were of times spent with Toni and Demetri. One of his favorite past times was watching and cheering on the Dallas cowboys. He especially enjoyed watching the games with “The Guys”, Gordon, Rick, Wade, and Sandy, as well as many friends and family members. When Larry wasn’t able to watch in person with others, he loved watching the Dallas Cowboys with his cousin “Big Rick” while they talked on the telephone. Of all the things Larry enjoyed doing, spending time with his family and friends was what he enjoyed the most. He was very excited each year in anticipation of the annual “Cousin’s Reunion”, and loved catching up with his cousins as well as taking an active role in the planning and preparation of the gathering. In his lifetime, Larry wore many hats and had many names including Larry, Beeb, Mr. Larry, Uncle Beeb, Dad, Son, and Darling. He was so proud and honored to carry each of these names and considered these relationships his greatest accomplishments. Larry shared quotes daily filled with words of encouragement and love. This one is for you Larry: “There are no goodbyes for us. Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart.” -Mahatma Gandhi

Larry is survived by his partners in life, Mary Jo Cagle and, Antoinette and Demetri Piaggio who he kept all together and under the protection of his heart. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, cousins, and many children who he has loved and mentored into their adulthood.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents Richard Gordon and Leoma Hinckley, Brother and Sister-in-law Gordon and LaRay Hinckley, and numerous beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Larry will be laid to rest at Laurel Land Memorial Park 7100 Crowley RD Fort Worth Texas 76134
