God moved the spirit within Lelia Mae Walker Allen from her temporary tent into the mansion just over the hilltop where her loving Father God welcomed her on July 9, 2021. Those left behind mourn her passing from this life, but are thankful for the time we shared in her unique 97 years, 9 months and 26 days upon this earth.
She was born in Itasca, Texas on September 13, 1923 to Nancy Caroline Freeman Walker and James Monroe Walker; Lelia’s siblings were Woodrow, James, RC, Nelda and Lucy.
Lelia met and married the love of her life, Walter W. E. Allen on September 30, 1939 at the tender age of 16. They met at a barn dance at Hillsboro, TX. where Walter was playing & singing in the band.
Lelia and W.E. moved many times during their marriage, from Hillsboro to Whitney to Fort Worth, finally landing on the south side of Fort Worth where Mom remained until 2008. During their marriage they brought four children into this world and did their best to raise us right and keep us safe. When children began entering their world Mom & Dad decided it was time to set a better example for us and quit the band and dancing and such. Jesus found them, they were immersed into Him & lived the remainder of their lives following Him.
Lelia is survived by her 4 children, Jim Allen, Nancy Jackson, George ( Jean ) Allen, and Paula ( Bill ) Ashbrook. She was a grandmother to 10, a great-grandmother to 19, and a great-great grandmother to 8 with one more on the way, as well as being an Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved. Beyond family, her church was family to her. She attended several congregations of the churches of Christ, with Highland being her last congregation.
Rest easy now. Your work is done. The worthy treasures you laid up await you in Heaven and the Circle is Unbroken.
