

On May 25, 2022, Lois Conover Pate, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 95 in Arlington, Texas. She was born on September 1,1926, to Byron Fitch and Ella Mae Loudermilk Conover in Porum, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of three beautiful girls.
Lois graduated in 1943 from R.L. Paschal High School in Fort Worth, Texas. She then married James Alton Pate on December 11, 1944, and together they raised three lovely children, LaNon, Sandra, and Byron. Her career began at J.E. Foster Real Estate agency, where she was a key-punch operator, programming large IBM computer machines. She then worked at the Swift Meat Packing business office, where she continued programming large computers. She later retired to help care for her grandchildren.
Lois appreciated the arts and was a gifted artist herself. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing. She was a highly skilled seamstress and made the dresses her daughters wore to school dances, suits for her husband, and clothing and other keepsakes for her grandchildren and other loved ones. She also enjoyed oil-painting and dabbled in writing poetry. Her family will forever treasure the many pieces of artwork she has created through the years.
Most importantly, Lois was a devout Christian whose faith was unwavering. She was a constant source of love and support and led those she loved with patience and a gentle guiding hand. Her family was a source of joy and pride for her, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her mother, father, two older sisters, Lucy Evelyn and Bernice (Bonnie) Marie, her grandsons, Curtis Lee Chapman, Bret James Rayford, and Gabriel Grant.
She is survived by her three children, Lois LaNone (Nonie) Caldwell, Sandra Kay Rayford, and James Byron and Brenda Pate; her grandchildren, Trey and Sissy Rayford, Robin and Cosme Leal, Cherice Rayford, Rhonda Mendola, Thomas Rayford, Jr., Spring Rayford, Connie Lyons, Alan and Sabrina Pate, Dwayne and Kara Pate, Cynthia and Tommy McDaniel, and Deborah Kidd; nineteen great-grandchildren; Jonathan Rayford, Megan and Travis Gibson, Ruben (RJ) and Ashlee Leal, Matthew and Becca Leal, Lucas and Abby Leal, Classic (CJ) and Lisa Rayford, Kelcie Rayford, Savannah and Alex Hardin, Amelia Rayford, Caroline Rayford, Darius and Lizzi Mendola, Andrew Pate, Eric Pate, Jamie Pate, Jaxon Pate Carter Pate, Gage Pate, Tao Grant, Brittany Santmeyer, eight great-great-grandchildren; Landen Leal, Legend Leal, Lawson Leal, Leighton Leal, Austin Rayford, Gavin Leal, Colbie Leal, Luther Grant, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and extended family.

Visitation: Wednesday, June 1 from 4:00-7:00 PM
