Lynn Allen Rambo was born in Waco, Texas the oldest child of Mary Margaret White and Ethan Sylvester Allen. Early in her childhood, the family moved to the Eastside of Fort where she spent almost her entire life. She graduated from Eastern Hills High School (EHHS) in 1966 then attended North Texas State University, joined Alpha Phi Fraternity and graduated in 1970 with her B.S. degree in Education.
Lynn said she always knew that her calling in life was to be a teacher. Ms. Allen began her 35-year career with the Fort Worth ISD in 1970 teaching at Forest Park Middle School, which ultimately lead to meeting the love of her life. In 1973, with great courage and strength, she married Leondas Roy (Coach) Rambo in East Fort Worth where they raised a family and lived and laughed and loved for 45 years until his passing in December of 2020.
In 1976, Mrs. Rambo returned to EHHS where she taught math (geometry being her favorite), sponsored clubs and served as department chair until 2000 when she joined the FWISD curriculum team until she retired in 2005 to stay home with her first grandchild. Despite the whirlwind of raising a family, handling her kids’ activities and supporting Coach at endless sports events, she never turned a student, co-worker, or friend in need away. She always made time for them.
Lynn was a faithful servant of God and member of Meadowbrook United Methodist Church since childhood, where she taught Sunday School, led Girl Scout troops, was a member of the United Methodist Women and volunteered at Eastside Ministries. However, she might most fondly be remember for having taught an entire generation of children (and some adults) to swim every summer for over 30 years, first at the Eastside YMCA and then in her parents’ backyard, where many memorable Sunday School class parties were also hosted with numerous friends that were dear to her for a lifetime.
In her final years, Lynn found great pleasure in making a new group of friends at Keller UMC, volunteering at the KUMC Resource Center and routinely playing cards, drinking wine and engaging in other adventures with the ladies at Discovery Retirement Village. Hers, was a life well lived.
Lynn is survived by her brother James Allen: bonus daughter Sharilyn Rambo and donus don Leondas Rambo Jr. and his wife Denisha Rambo; daughters Pamela Lynn Rambo Sexton and her husband Robert Sexton, Mary Lynn Hudnall and her husband Coleman Hudnall and Rebekah Lynn Rambo; grandchildren Taylor Lynn Estill, Madison Lynn Sexton, Caroline Rebekah Hudnall and Henry Foster Hudnall.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations may be given to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.
