

A Visitation for Maggie will be held Monday, October 13, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Greater Mount Tabor Christian Center, 2513 S Edgewood Terrace, Fort Worth, Texas 76105, with a Celebration of Life starting at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, 8301 Mansfield Hwy, Arlington, Texas 76001.
Maggie Mae was born in Brenham, TX. on May 5, 1935 to Willie Ellis and Mary Young Ellis. She graduated from A.J. Moore High School in Waco TX. Maggie married James T. Wright in 1955, in Waco, then moved to Fort Worth. She worked as a domestic engineer for several families for over 45 years. She was involved in her church and served in several capacities for over 50 years. Maggie was a devoted Sunday School Teacher, Armor Bearer to the First Lady Margie Hobbs-Bowman, a member and instructor for Mission I, Super Seasoned Seniors and a welcoming usher who greeted everyone with warmth. She was known for her amazing baked goods like 7up cake and absolutely legendary boiled eggs, and homemade chicken salad.
She is preceded in death by her father Willie Ellis, her mother Mary Hunt, her brothers and sisters, Charlie Chatman, Samuel T. Ellis, Tommy L. Ellis, Myrtle Merrell, Eddie Ellis, and Sarah Lockhart and grandchild Xavier Lee.
She leaves to mourn her children: Thomas Ellis, BJ Wright (Winfred), James T. Wright Jr., Debra Watkins and Joe A. Merrell (LaVonia) Her Grandchildren: Wayneshia Carroll, Kevin Morris (Cheryl), Andrea Marshall, Shaunte Watkins, Marcus Wright ( Megan), James Thomas Wright III, Kierra Wright (Dominic) and Ahmad Haj, she also had 16 great grandchildren whom she adored. Also acknowledging a host of nieces, nephews, cousins friends, family and her loving church family.
Pallbearers will be Ahmad Haj, Xavier Daniels, Brandon Johnson, James T. Wright III, Nick Ellison and Marcus Wright. As for Honorary Pallbearers William C Anderson, Anthony Butler, Kevin Morris and Domonic Smith.
The family of Maggie Wright wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all who visited her and comforted us at this time. Special mentions to Green Oaks Nursing home and rehabilitation center for caring for our mother, and to her church home for 50 years, Greater Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church for your support and your love.
