She died on April 1, 2018, in Ft. Worth, Texas. Most will remember her for her hard work on the ranch, her out-spoken position on various topics, especially politics, and her sense of humor.
Services: St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Burleson, TX on April 5, 2018, at 2 pm, with a graveside service at a later date at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta, GA.
She married Alva Floyd Lett, Jr. in Dayton Ohio on July 23, 1948. Together they traveled and lived in numerous places while he completed his career in the US Air Force, retiring as a Major.
In 1964 they purchased 37 acres of land south of Burleson, Texas and continued adding parcels of land and developing the property into the Lett Arabian Ranch. They were known nationally for their training, breeding program and support of Arabian horses. They and Alan R. Morgan, whom they regarded as a son, founded the Legacy Arabian Horse Club, a non-profit organization to promote the Arabian horse breed. After Al’s death in 1992, she continued the ranch operations, teaching dressage, horsemanship and boarding horses of all breeds. In recent years she raised cattle along with various types of fowl such as guineas, turkeys and exotic species of peacocks.
The Arellano family has participated in the ranch operation for two generations, and cousins, Elias, David and Jesse Arellano have been the primary care givers for Mrs. Lett, allowing her to remain on the ranch and live in the home she and Al shared.
She is survived by her brother Alfred J. Johnson of Atlanta and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and –nephews and many friends.
