Margie was born on May 9, 1933, in Fort Worth, Texas, the daughter of Albert Lee Cobb and Edith Francis Wallis Cobb, who preceded her in death. She lived a life full of love, faith, and purpose as a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Margie attended Rosement Junior High School and then graduated from Paschal High School in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1951. During her time at Paschal High School, she was the first female in the woodshop class and was a member of the newly formed Aviation Club. It was fitting that she was interested in aviation since she worked as a travel agent for 40 years with Dan Dipert Tours - a career she cherished deeply. She loved being part of the travel industry and spoke often and fondly of her time there and of her many trips, including to most of the United States, as well as Mexico, Canada, England, and many other parts of Europe. Her work was a passion, and she took great pride in it.
Above all though, Meemaw was devoted to her family. She was the proud and loving mother to daughters, Deborah Brantley and Karen Kimball (spouse Kyle Kimball), and son, Charles Brantley, Jr. She treasured her role as grandmother to Katherine Cook (spouse James Cook), Kolton Kimball (spouse Kristin Kimball), and Megan Brantley, and as great-grandmother to Rory Cook.
Proverbs 17:6a reads, “Grandchildren are the crown of the aged.” This verse reflects her heart so well. Her family was her greatest joy, and she poured her love into each generation with tenderness, wisdom, and pride. Meemaw loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild and especially cooking for them. There was never a lack of food at Thanksgiving for family and many friends!
She found beauty and joy in simple things. She loved to read with coffee in hand (can’t ever forget the coffee!). Besides the Bible and devotionals, her favorite books were Jack Reacher novels. She read every one - many times! She was a huge sports fan, especially of the Rangers, Mavericks, and Cowboys. She attended many games over the years and had met Cowboys Jay Novacek and Michael Irvin, as well as Coach Tom Landry. Her garden was also a source of joy and pride, just like her family. Even in her final days, she could be found in her beloved garden, nurturing life as she always had.
Throughout her life, she was known as a woman of strength, grace, and quiet humor. Those who knew her speak of her kindness, generosity, and the unwavering love she gave to her family. She was the kind of person who made everyone feel seen and valued. Her servant’s heart, her gentle spirit, and her listening ear were gifts to everyone blessed to know her.
A woman of strong Christian faith, Marjorie believed in Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She loved reading and studying scripture, and her home was often filled with the sounds of worship music, especially when it was sung by her granddaughter, Katherine, and great-granddaughter, Rory.
