Born May 30, 1926 in Marlin, TX to the late Robert Hamilton and Mary Ann Wiley, she graduated from Daingerfield high school around 1944. She moved to Michigan during WWII and worked at a tire factory.
Bernelle met Walter Baxley and they married Oct 26, 1946 in Tyler TX. They moved to Chicago for Walter to finish school. Once he graduated, they couldn't move back to Texas fast enough! They lived in Texarkana then moved to Fort Worth once Walter started working at Channel 5.
Their son Russ was born in 1958, and they lived on Waltham Street 54 years, until 2004. She moved to St. Francis Village, and attended Altamesa Church of Christ and its predecessor - Trail Lake Church of Christ for around 50 years, where she was involved as a Sunday school teacher and a greeter.
Bernelle loved to travel all over the world. She went to Europe every couple of years, but especially loved vacationing in the Colorado mountains. Those who knew her, know that she loved to cook and won several cooking contests. She also loved playing dominos ("42") and card games such as "Hand and foot".

She was preceded in death by Husband Walter Baxley and siblings Cleo, W. S., Floyd, Grady, Bob, Opal, Thelma and Bill.
