Nécrologie de Mary Nell Rubenkoenig
Mary Nell Rubenkoenig, our angelic mother, was greeted by her Lord and Savior, as well as her beloved husband, Ralph Herman Rubenkoenig, Wednesday, September 28, 2022. The daughter of Ray and Nellie Hester, Mary Nell entered this world on September 10, 1932, in Fort Worth, Texas. Mary Nell was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Herman Rubenkoenig, her parents Ray and Nellie Hester, her brother Eugene Hester, and her baby sister Jenni Hester. Mary Nell is survived by her five children and their spouses: David and Melinda Rubenkoenig, Kathleen Rubenkoenig, John and Dianne Rubenkoenig, Mike Rubenkoenig, and Mark and Donna Rubenkoenig. Nine grandchildren (Leah Friels, Andrea Case, Ryan Rubenkoenig, Charlotte Holliday, Shelley Pritchard, Steve Rubenkoenig, Mallory Qualls, Casey Rubenkoenig, and Marissa Rubenkoenig and sixteen great grandchildren (Gavin Friels, Allison Friels, Lee Case, Reid Rubenkoenig, Dean Rubenkoenig, Drew Rubenkoenig, Ashlyn Holliday, Abbey Kate Holliday, Cole Pritchard, Wyatt Pritchard, Parker Pritchard, Alexandria Rubenkoenig, Eli Qualls, Ivy Qualls, Owen Qualls, Theodore Rubenkoenig, Kaylee Conner, Brayden Conner, Lane Jenkins and Griffin Jenkins.). Mary worked hard all her life; never enjoying the childhood art of paper dolls, playing make believe or participating in “Simon Says.” At age 5, she learned to cook and took care of the family household while her mother, our “Nannie,” worked to support the family.   Mary Nell married Ralph Herman Rubenkoenig on August 11, 1949. For most, their wedding day would have been a disaster. The 1949 flood had just occurred and destroyed their wedding gifts. She mistakenly stood in an ant bed while waiting for a cab to take her and her parents to the church. Their honeymoon was a wedding gift from Ralph’s employer, which came with a bonus of babysitting the boss’ five children. The love Ralph and Mary Nell shared for each made all these events joyful memories. Mary Nell love life. She and Ralph adored their five children, nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. In their 63 years of marriage, they enjoyed traveling to Yellowstone National Park, Alaska, and Hawaii. Each grandchild was treated to a car trip visiting various states; joyful memories relived to this day. Mary Nell, faithfully read her Bible daily. She also taught Women’s Bible Study. Her spiritual gift was hospitality. Family dinners planned to serve forty could easily feed fifty, generously. Loving memories include us all around the dining room table laughing, enjoying the food and each other’s company. Her fried chicken, cooked in Crisco, was the best! Everyone was welcome at the Rubenkoenig home. Her last earthly act was singing “Jesus Loves Me.” An angel on earth, mom is forever our loving Guardian.
