

Mary Jane Rumfield of Fort Worth, passed from this life to her heavenly home on Monday afternoon, November 14, 2022, at the age of 91. A celebration of Mary Jane’s life will be held on Monday, November 21, at Laurel Land Funeral Home located at 7100 Crowley Rd, Fort Worth. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Reverend Beth Evers will officiate the graveside service at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow.
Mary Jane grew up on a dairy farm in Smithfield, Texas with five older sisters and an older brother. She graduated from Carter-Riverside High School in 1948. In January 1950, she enrolled at Brantley-Draughon Business School in Fort Worth. Her career at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company spanned from 1952 to 1984.
Mary Jane’s heart and soul was serving her Lord Jesus and serving her church. She was a member of University United Methodist Church for 71 years. She lived out her faith through years of dedication to United Methodist Women, the Sterck Sunday School Class, Chancel Choir, Super Adults, various church committees, and volunteering in the church office. She was an original onsite meal distributor volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program at her church until it just became too difficult. Mary Jane’s impact and legacy are evident throughout the entire University UMC community.
Mary Jane is preceded in death by her parents: Clyde and Edith Rumfield, her sisters: Billie Whorton, Betty Williams, Vera Holt, Inez Burkholder, Grace Houser, and her brother: Johnny Rumfield. She is survived by nephews: Vaughn Burkholder and John Rumfield, nieces: Claudia Jane Coleman, Ginger Burlison and Teresa Knox.
The family extends a heartfelt thanks to Mary Jane’s friends and caregivers: Tamara Cook and Rhonda Ingham, who served Mary with faithfulness and love for many years.
