Mary Louise Vaughn

Mary Louise (Baumgardner) Vaughn, age 98, of North Richland Hills, Texas, entered into eternal rest with our Lord and Savior on June 21, 2025. Mary was born on May 10, 1927 in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Oscar and Clarice Baumgardner.

Having a strong work ethic all her life, Mary was very proud of her career as a nurse and office manager for a highly respected general surgeon in Fort Worth. And, as the practice grew adding additional surgeons, she still managed to “run the office” with “limited assistance” from other office personnel. In 2011, at the age of 84, Mary retired. She would often recall those many years with fondness and a sense of great accomplishment.

Mary was a grandmother to three boys: David, in whose birth she persuaded the doctor to allow her to “assist,” and Justin and Jason, both of whom she proudly assisted in raising to be fine young men. Following college graduation, Justin made personal sacrifices to return home to live with his grandmother and assist in taking care of her for the remaining years of her life.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Libby Smith, and son, Gary Vaughn; three grandsons, David Brandt, Justin Vaughn and Jason Vaughn; great-grandchild, Austin Brandt; and great-great-grandchildren, Ryder and Leighton Brandt.

Mary is preceded in death by her late husband, Lawrence B. Vaughn

A visitation for Mary will be held Monday, June 30, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Shannon Rufe Snow Drive Funeral Home, 6001 Rufe Snow Drive, Fort Worth, TX 76148. A private family burial will be held at a later date. We kindly ask for your understanding and respect for the family's wishes during this time.
