

A Visitation will be held at Laurel Land – Rose Hill Funeral Home, located at 7301 East Lancaster Ave, Fort Worth, Texas, 76112 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, with a Celebration of Life starting at 11:00 am. Burial to follow at Laurel Land - Rose Hill Memorial Park.
Maye was born to Joe and Ruby Stevens Scott on April 28, 1940. She received her education in Teague ISD and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1957 as Valedictorian. She also co-authored the school song “Dear Booker T".
Maye married Billie Joe Carroll in 1957 and they were blessed with three children, two sons and one daughter. She was affectionately known by family as “Dovie” but to Billie Joe Carroll, she was always Maye Pearl. She later received an Associate Degree in Biblical Studies from Southern Bible Institute in May 2010.
Maye was employed by Texas Instruments for 23 years, retiring in 1990 from the Purchasing Department as a Buyer’s Agent for equipment purchases. She served as office administrator for Christland Missionary Baptist Church of Fort Worth, TX as well as being the lead alto for the church choir. She also taught Women’s Christian classes at Women’s Fellowship.
Maye is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers: Horace (Johnny) Scott, Rev. Billy Joe Scott, Arthur Riley Scott, Robert Scott, and two sisters: Shirley Scott Caddell and Mertha Scott Ransom.
She will be forever cherished in the memories of her children: Jerrell Lynn Carroll (Alesia), Ruby Jo Carroll Finney (Michael), Carl Anthony Carroll. Her grandchildren: Branden Dae Finney, Jerrell Lynn Carroll Jr., Dr. Whitney Nicole Chaney PharmD, Ca’Ronn Carroll, Dr. Jonathan Scott Carroll M.D. and Dr. Brianna Felice Carroll DPT. Her great-grandchildren: Cari Carroll, Carter Finney, Cali Carroll, Jamisen Finney and Camille Carroll as well as her remaining siblings: Yvonne Scott Gillespie, Reuben Scott (Gloria), Henry Wayne Scott (Margaret) Debra Scott Housley (Kenneth) and Tony Scott, her nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorials may be given to Christland Missionary Baptist Church of Fort Worth, Texas, Southern Bible Institute.
