

Melba Jo began working as a nurse for several years and later went on to work at Texas Instruments for over 10 years. She owned and operated Melba’s Ice Cream Polar and Record Shop as well as the Star Lite Inn. Melba Jo then began working for the school district where she remained until she retired. In retirement Melba Jo began caring for veterans in her home until 2015. She enjoyed her retirement by traveling with her family and spending time with her great-grandchildren.
Melba Jo accepted Christ at an early age. As a child, she began attending New Bethel in Tennessee Colony, TX, and moved her membership to First St. John In Fort Worth until her retirement when she joined First Pilgrim Valley under the leadership of Rev. Oliver G. Hill. Her life was filled with the love of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and her church family. She affectionately gave hugs and kisses to all who greeted her and always welcomed her family with open arms and a cooked meal.
Preceded her in death her husband Elvin Patton, Maxie Hayes Sr., father Nelson Nolley, mother Carrie Reed, stepmother Annie Nolley, siblings SJ, Bernest, Elma Lee, Naomi, Thelma, Loisa, and grandson Romaine Real Sr.
Our loving mother, transitioned to her eternal home on March 3, 2021, surrounded by prayer and family. Melba Jo leaves to cherish her memories are her son, Maxie Hayes Jr. (Candida) daughter, Sharon Decluette (Victor Sr.), brother Kenneth Nolley, Alvin Tribble, grandchildren Melba Mosley, Angela Clay, Halean Henry, Nacole Real, Maxie Young, Alexis Hayes, Victor Decluette Jr; great-grandchildren, Daijia Pugh, Imeril Mosley, Aerial Mosley, Amaris Love, Romaine (Ethan) Real Jr, and Gabrielle Real as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and church family.
