Melvin was born to the parentage of Sherman and Ima (Tiny) Stevenson on March 7, 1952 in Alvarado, Texas. He attended John Washington Carver where he was taught by all black teachers and later became part of an integrated school system in Alvarado, where he graduated high school. He participated in sports and stayed on the “A” Honor Roll.
Melvin accepted Christ as head of his life at an early age. He was baptized and became a member of Galilee Baptist Church in Venus, Texas, under the leadership of the late Reverend roy Lee Spearman, Sr. Later, Melvin worked in Computer Technology.
On September 11, 2019 Melvin entered into eternal rest. Melvin was proceeded in death by his parents, Sherman and Ima Stevenson, 3 brothers, Robert, Arthur Lee and Donald Jean, 3 sisters, Anita, Janice Miller and Bobbie Winn.
He leaves with many cherished memories, brothers, Albert Stevenson (Young), Clifton Stevenson, James Stevenson and Anthony Stevenson; sisters, Etta Stevenson and Wanda Woods (Bobby); special aunt Willie Mae Stevenson; 16 nephews and nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.
