Michael proudly served in the U.S. Navy for nearly three years as a Machinist Mate. Following his service, he dedicated his time and heart to his family and community. He spent six years as a devoted Boy Scout Master, mentoring and guiding young scouts. Michael enjoyed fishing and gaming, but his greatest joy came from being part of his loved one’s lives. Michael could always be found cheering at band events, sports games, dance recitals, and every family gathering. Known for his big laugh, sharp sense of humor, and kind, caring nature, he brought light and laughter wherever he went.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mose Edward Chaffin and Bettye Bayne Chaffin. He is survived by his children, Christin and Kyle Chaffin; his sisters, Nancy Collins (husband Ken) and Donna Harris; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
