Mike was born on June 3, 1959 in Lawton, OK to Bill and Dorothy Sexson. The youngest of 4 children, he enjoyed playing many sports and strived to excel in each. He met his wife, Tammy, in 1977 and they were married in 1979. Together, they moved to Texas in 1983 so Mike could join his father in the family painting and remodeling business. They welcomed their son Kevin into the family in 1987 and their daughter, Chelsey, in 1991. He lived in Watauga for 32 years. He worked for various cities for the their parks departments until settling in at the City of Keller for almost 20 years. He became a landscape supervisor for the city and got to work sharing his love for, and artistry of, landscaping all around the city. No matter where you look today in Keller, he probably had had a hand in planning and planting the beautiful landscapes you see today. It was his passion and he enjoyed what he did. Not everyone can say that, but he meant it.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Sexson, and his sister, Debra Persinger, and his beloved dog, Buster.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy; his son Kevin and wife, Pam, and their daughter Harper; and his daughter, Chelsey and husband, Thomus, and their son Thomus, Jr. Also by his brother, Gary Sexson and cousin, Ricky Secoy. His mother, Dorothy Powers, and Sherry Yeates, his mother-in-law; brother-in-law, Brian Yeates and wife Debbie, and their son, Tyler; sister-in-law, Amanda Biggs and her husband, Bob; and niece, Melitta Fitzgerald. He also leaves behind his sweet pup, Luke.
