Minnie Mae Anderson was born to the parentage of Willie Oscar Anderson and Alice Lee Anderson in Fort Worth, Texas on October 1st, 1933. Due to her mother’s death at a young age, Minnie was raised by her grandmother, Mary Leanna Johnson.
Minnie received her education through the FWISD and was a graduate of I.M. Terrell high school. She spent her professional career working in the healthcare field doing what she did best- caring for and nurturing others. After 43 years of service, she retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital and Plaza Medical Center. She also served the Sisters of Saint Mary of Namur at Our Lady of Victory convent for many years.
She was guided to Christ at a young age, and in the mid 1970’s she became a member of Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist church where she wore many hats over the years. Many will remember her being of service to her church family by serving on the usher board, working with the youth, the Women’s ministry, the Golden Years ministry, church treasurer, and in 2025 she was rightfully proclaimed Mother of the Church.
In July 1959, Minnie married Samuel Musgrove, and this union created a blended family of 9, and they were blessed with their baby girl, Pamela.
There has always been a call on Minnie’s life to be dedicated to her family, faith and community. She lived this daily by serving as caregiver to her siblings, Eva and Oscar, her grandson, Dontel, her son Maurice, nephew, Milton and she remained devoted to Samuel until his death. There was always an open door and a seat at Minnie’s table for anyone that needed rest or a meal. Sunday dinners at Dear Dear’s house were a family staple.
Minnie is preceded in death by her parents and grandmother, her siblings, Billie Lou Hardeman, Oscar Anderson and Eva Anderson. Her son, Harold Maurice Cook and her daughter Barbara Wells. Her grandson, Dontel Lawsha Roberson.
She leaves to mourn and cherish her memories: her devoted daughters Beverly Ann Gutierrez and Pamela Musgrove. Her bonus children, Samuel Musgrove III, Ricky Musgrove (Martha), Deborah Span, Joan Martin and Myrna Anthony (David). Ten grandchildren, and 13 bonus grandchildren. 22 great-grandchildren and 20 bonus great-grandchildren. 8 great-great grandchildren. Godson, Napoleon Mathis and God-daughter Joy Harp, and a host of relatives and friends. Her legacy lives on.
