Miriam was born March 5, 1918, in Port Deposit, Md., to Lott and Adrianna Pierce. She graduated valedictorian of her senior class from The Tome School in Port Deposit, Md. She married Joseph Burkins March 5, 1937; he preceded her in death in 1985.
Miriam was an accomplished seamstress and sewed for many years for the public. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Burleson.
Survivors: Children, Joe and wife, Beverly Burkins, of Burleson, Charlie and wife, Lynn Burkins, of Granbury, Ann Stulce of Mansfield and Paul Burkins of Fort Worth; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Taylor of Milford, Del.
