Born on May 4, 1941, outside of Blum, Texas, Morris was the beloved only child of Morris and Frances Daniel. During his early years, the family moved to Fort Worth, where he attended Trimble Tech High School. There, he excelled in basketball and, most importantly, met the love of his life, Deanna Short. Morris graduated from Trimble Tech in 1959, and three years later, on August 24, 1962, he and Deanna were married, beginning a lifetime partnership built on devotion and love.
Morris continued his education at the University of North Texas before proudly earning his degree from Texas Christian University in 1965. A loyal Horned Frog, he never missed a chance to cheer on TCU athletics and was proud to be recognized as a “Golden Frog” in 2015. Attending games with family and friends remained one of his favorite pastimes throughout his life.
He dedicated more than fifty years to the wholesale plumbing supply industry, working with several respected companies including Jahns Supply Company, International Supply Company, Hughes Supply, and National Wholesale Supply. Through his career, Morris was known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and the lifelong friendships he built along the way.
Beyond his professional life, Morris will be remembered for his love of sports, horses, travel, and—above all—his family. He and Deanna took immense pride in raising their children, Dr. Kris Daniel Porter and Rick Daniel, and later in the joy of watching their grandchildren grow. Later in life, Morris found companionship and happiness with Christina Ladd Radford, with whom he shared many adventures, including memorable trips to the Breeders’ Cup, the Kentucky Derby, and other horse racing events.
Morris was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Frances Daniel, and by his beloved wife, Deanna Daniel. He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Kris Daniel Porter and her husband, Chris, and their children, Sydney, Samantha, and Hayden; and by his son, Rick Daniel and his wife, Monica, and their children, Gene, Austin, Adrianna, and Luke.
Morris lived a full and meaningful life, marked by his devotion to family, loyalty to friends, and enthusiasm for the things he loved. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and cherished friend.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance in his memory.
