Nathan Pitts, born August 14th 1949 went home to be with the Lord on January 9th 2025 after a brief battle with cancer. He leaves behind his wife Mary Pitts, his sons and daughters George Simonds, Sara Lanier, Gregory Spraitz and Mellisa Spraitz as well as 3 grandchildren Kara Christen, Rachel Christen and Lars Lanier.
Nate never made a stranger and weather he was at the grocery store or church he treated all he met with the same love and respect. He never missed a chance to tell everyone how God gave him a family when he thought he would never have one. He also never missed an opportunity to tell us how much he loved us and show it in his actions. He loved Jesus and started a ministry with his wife Mary Pitts to support important programs in the community. He lived the majority of his life in Fort Worth, White Settlement, and Lake Worth. He graduated from Lake Worth high and was still proud of being a bullfrog. He followed that up with an associates degree at Tarrant County College. He also talked about his years of being a shuttle driver at the airport for Trailways. His love for people always shined through when he talked about those days.
Nate married Mary after he lost his first wife Sherry and my Mary lost her first husband John. Nate and his first wife were never blessed with kids and at the time he married Mary, her daughter and two daughters were living there. You can imagine the adjustment to never having raised kids to living with a very rambunctious sassy 3 year old and an 8 year old. He jumped into grandpa mode and loved them with all he had. When Lars was born, he was so proud. He had never been there for a newborn and always treated him so special. I know he is in heaven and no longer suffering, yet selfishly, we miss him. Nate impacted our lives for the better and I personally feel like a better person having had him in my life for the last 19 years. Praise God he is resting in peace with our heavenly Father. He was preceded in death by his wife Sherry, his mother Marie, father John and brother Paul.
A visitation will be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025 from 4pm to 6pm with a funeral service Monday, Jan. 20, 2025 at 2pm followed by burial at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
