Nelda Lee Prachyl

Service: Monday 2 pm at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park.

Visitation: Sunday 3-5 pm at Shannon Rose Hill.

Nelda Lee (Sims) Prachyl was born, the youngest of 6 children, December 3, 1934 in Seymour, Texas to Minet Grant and Ruby Renee (Caussey) Sims.

One of her first jobs was at Leonard's Department Store in Fort Worth, playing records by request.

Nelda married Johnny J. Prachyl at age 16, and they had 3 children together: Mike, Nicky (deceased), and Kevin. They enjoyed water skiing together until Johnny passed at age 38 of a heart attack.

Married briefly after Johnny's death, she then met Dave Lawlis, her longtime companion until he died. Her oldest sister, Ila, lived with her for several years until her death in 2009.

Nelda was the manager of the Italian Inn on Lancaster for many years and also enjoyed dealing in antiques. She liked reading, traveling with family, watching TV and listening to music.

Nelda never met a stranger. She mothered everyone calling them sweetie, angel, baby, etc. Friends of her children were treated like her own family.

She was a member of the West Freeway Church of Christ, and while not able to attend due to her failing health, was often lovingly lifted up by its members through their prayers, visits, phone calls, letters, baskets and the great love of God. She was very appreciative of their continuing care.

The last several months of her life, Nelda was lovingly cared for by St. Gabriel's Hospice. Her caretakers became very important part of her life and were like her extended family.

Nelda was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Prachyl and son, Nicky Prachyl.

Survivors: sons, Mike Prachyl and wife Sandra, and Kevin Prachyl; grandchildren, Jennifer Petrie, Jeffrey Prachyl, Kimberly Prachyl, and Sydney Prachyl; great grandchildren, Tyler, Karson, and Kellan Petrie; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
