After graduating from Paschal High School in 1947, he attended Tyler Jr. College on a football scholarship. There he met his wife, Gloria Tooke Karnes, whom he married on June 1, 1952.

Ralph’s passions were his family first and foremost, followed by an abiding love for hunting, riding horses and 50+ years as a Mason (Arlington Heights Mason Lodge) and Moslah Shriner (member of FW Moslah Mounties).
Ralph was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Gloria Tooke Karnes, his parents, six brothers and four sisters.
