Raymond was born in San Angelo on March 10, 1927, to Clyde and Francis Barber. He proudly served his country in the Navy. Raymond relocated to the Fort Worth area and through the years worked for 7-11, Army-Navy, and until retirement, he spent many years as merchandising manager for the Buddies/Winn-Dixie stores. Raymond was a member of Crowley United Methodist Church serving in various roles through the years, always ready to serve his Lord by serving others. Woodcrafts were his hobby, sharing and donating his unique creations with others. He married Bonnie Faye Sadler Balch on Dec. 19, 1970. They were married for almost 45 years. She was the love of his life and they shared many happy years together. He dedicated his later years to her care, even through health issues of his own. Raymond was the most beloved husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa and Christian friend anyone could be fortunate enough to have. He was quick with a helping hand for others and would then thank them for the pleasure of helping. Raymond was dedicated to family. He supported his two children, Gary and Connie, and then his three grandchildren, Marcus, Garrett and Keli, through the years in all of their endeavors. He was a familiar face at athletic events through the years. Team members and their families alike thought of Raymond as part of the closest circle of support ... "Grandpa" was known, loved and appreciated by all. His four great-grandchildren were special joys to Raymond and always brought a smile to his face. Many hugs were exchanged and even at their young ages, will remember his loving and kind spirit.
Raymond was preceded in death by his first wife, Dolly E. Barber; his parents; his brother, Clyde Barber Jr.; and his sister, Francis Barber Benes.
