

A Visitation for Raymond will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Laurel Land – Rose Hill Funeral Home, 7301 East Lancaster Ave, Fort Worth, Texas 76112, with a Celebration of Life starting at 11:00 AM. Burial to follow at Laurel Land – Rose Hill Memorial Park.
Raymond was born on July 11, 1923, in Frankfort, KY to parents Raymond and Mary Belle Barton. He attended grade school at Good Shepherd Catholic School in Frankfort, KY, then Campion Jesuit High School in Wisconsin (Class of 1941), where he played sports, including Ice Hockey.
Upon graduating high school, Raymond returned to Frankfort. When WWII began, he answered the call and enlisted in the US Marine Corps where he achieved the rank of Sergeant. His last post was in Fort Worth, TX at Eagle Mountain Lake Marine base. He was honorably discharged after the war and remained in Fort Worth, where he lived the rest of his life. He soon met his true love, Carrie Virginia Burks from Iredale, TX, and they were wed in 1946. He attended Texas Christian University and graduated in 1949 with bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Raymond was an entrepreneur and started his own business selling church furniture. For forty years he traveled and conducted business throughout the Southwest. He also owned and piloted his own aircraft, was an accomplished mechanic and was particularly skilled as a turner of motorcycle race engines.
Raymond is preceded in death by his wife Carrie Virginia, daughter Mary Teresa, grandson Brian, sisters, Ann Leonard and Imogene, and niece Susan.
Raymond is survived by his sons Raymond Jr, Robert and Rodger; grandchildren Carrie, Raymond III, Keith Robert, Donald, Heather, Kelsey, Ryder and Raegan; great-grandchildren Kaitlin, Jake, Hailey, Emily, Sophia, Charlotte, Evan, Kinsley and Scarlett; niece Ann Mason Gang (Indianapolis, IN); nephews Gary Hill and wife Clara (Nashville, TN), Johnny Hill and wife Dawn (Naples, FL).
