Rita Sue McCord

Rita was born on May 7, 1956, in Houston, Texas, where she grew up, attending Klein High School and the University of Houston. She married Michael Lee McCord on February 15, 1979, in Houston, Texas, and they lived in southwestern Houston, before moving to Arlington then to New Jersey, then to Mansfield, Texas, and finally settling in northern Fort Worth.

Rita was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was extremely active in all facets of her family’s daily lives. Rita enjoyed exercising, karaoke, the beach, playing games, the pool, and most of all spending time with family and friends.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, JoRita Gunter and Billy Bonard Gunter, and one sibling, Keith Allen Gunter.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Lee McCord; two sons, Sean Ryan McCord and wife, Erin, and Trey Michael McCord and wife, Jourdan; her four grandchildren, Annaliese Josselet McCord, Eleanor Rae McCord, Beckham Leigh McCord, and Coen Michael McCord; her siblings, Cathy Jo Bugna, Kevin Paul Gunter and his wife, Colleen, Charles Dwayne Gunter and his wife, Cindy; and her sister-in-law, Mary Gunter.
