Roberta Mae Montgomery

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 10:00 am at Laurel Land – Rose Hill Funeral Home, located at 7301 East Lancaster Ave, Fort Worth, Texas, 76112. Burial will follow at Laurel Land – Rose Hill Memorial Park.

Roberta was born on March 7, 1936 in McAlester, Oklahoma. Later she married James Patrick Montgomery on January 16th, 1953 and they lived in Oklahoma several years before moving to Fort Worth, Texas.

Roberta and James were both believers and became members of Sagamore Hill Baptist Church. They were active in Sunday School classes and enjoyed their “old fashion” preaching and raising their two girls in church activities. Roberta also loved being a homemaker and mother. She loved cross stitching, sewing, oil painting, crafts and cooking. Her house was decorated with many intricate cross stitch pictures and paintings.

She believed if something was broken, “don’t buy another one” just figure out how to fix it. This was before the internet. In her later years she became interested in genealogy. She traced her family back several hundred years and also helped others trace their families.

Roberta is preceded in death by her loving husband James. They were married 67 years before he passed away.

Roberta was known as “Nana” and is survived by the greatest joy in her life, her children and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandson. She leaves a legacy of faith and family and Christian believers. They will all will miss her so much. Her loving daughter Shelia Favor, husband Tommy, and granddaughter Alexandra Favor, and her second daughter Sandy Dodgin, who adored her mother and was so helpful as a caretaker when needed. Lloyd and Shelia Clark, children Brianna and Johnathan Adrian and baby Maverick, Karis Ingle and fiance Cameron Carter, Robin, Kylie Sneed and their son Jaxson Lindsey, Casey, Crystal Pearson and children Ty and Wrenley Pearson, Zac, Angie Cryer and their children Phoenix and Lennon.

Those who knew Roberta, will remember that she put her family above all and was a devout Christian. We know that Jesus was welcoming her home.
