Rowena attended WW Samuell High School and studied at Draughn’s Business College. She was a member of the Eastern Star for many years. Rowena was preceded in death by her parents, Estell and Rowen Moore. She was also preceded in death by both her sons, Mickey Dale Green and Gary Lee Green whom she and Fred loved dearly.
Rowena is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Fred “Butch” Green. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Sherry Bueno Green, three granddaughters, Tara Green, Alyssa Green and Jennifer Green. In addition, she is survived by two great granddaughters Kaylie Tucker and Avery Green. Also many nieces and nephews throughout Texas and New Mexico.
Many who knew Rowena were acutely aware of her sincere love of dogs (all colors, shapes and sizes) and she owned many in her lifetime and each became a beloved member of her and Fred’s life together.
Rowena Green loved her E. Mission Street neighbors and many became lifelong friends. Rowena became a second “mom” to many of the kids on their street as they and her boys were growing up. It was never a surprise if she would have 3-4 extra young people to feed come suppertime. She loved each one like her own and had kept relationships with several up until the time of her death. As the granddaughters and great granddaughters came along there was endless entertainment when Papa and Nanny put up a swimming pool and the smiling faces were always a joy to them. Upon retirement, Fred and Rowena loved to travel and visited many of the states including Hawaii and Alaska. They were always ready for a road trip to West Texas and New Mexico to visit nieces and nephews. In later years she and Jennifer loved watching certain TV shows together and Nanny came to love Jennifer’s kitties. Rowena was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
