Roy Vernon Black, 91, of Fort Worth, TX, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, October 5, 2017. He was born in Bullard, TX on April 12, 1926. Mr. Black enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII and served from 1944-1946. He was married to Barbara Black on November 10, 1972. Roy retired as crew leader from the Lone Star Gas Company after 42 years. He loved his Lord and was a faithful member of Southcliff Baptist Church. He had a passion for gardening, fishing, friendly games of Forty – Two, and helping others. Roy was a wonderful caring husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara of 45 years, daughter Royce Lynn Wernette, grandson Brian Johnson the joy of his life and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his first wife Margaret of 24 years, one brother, and one sister. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm October 11, 2017 at Laurel Land Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at Southcliff Baptist Church 10 am October 12, 2017. In Lieu of flowers make donations to Southcliff Baptist Church.
