

Ruth Valentine Braddock passed away peacefully on Monday, September 12, 2016. Service: 10 a.m. Thursday at Laurel Land Chapel of the Chimes in Fort Worth. Ruth was born on Feb. 14, 1924, in Paris, Texas, to Gill and Lula Brown. She worked for Morningside Methodist church during the 1950s as the church secretary. She took a position as a registrar for the City of Fort Worth in the sixties and remained employed there until after the mid seventies. During this time she was able to sign the birth certificates for all three of her grandchildren. She retired from the City of Fort Worth but filled her time as a receptionist at Shannon's Funeral Home until taking a position in their insurance department. In her free time, Ruth enjoyed doing crafts, needlework, making greeting cards and scrapbooking. She also completed extensive research into her genealogy and was always interested in learning more about her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis Braddock, in 1991; and siblings, Warren Brown, Maurice Parker and Emma Horsley. Survivors: Ruth has left her memory to be cherished by her daughter, Patsy Dwight; grandchildren, Tim Dwight, Stephanie Dwight, Michael Dwight and wife, Karin and Tammy Dwight-Ministero; and great-grandchildren, Caroline, Christian, Hailey, Travis, Rebecca and Reagan.
